Houston Born Filmmaker Brings Film Home
The Rogue Arts theatrical release of the critically acclaimed film Intoxicating moves to Texas beginning with Houston on April 15th, 2005. The film opens at the Edwards Grand Palace Stadium 24 in Houston. Thereafter the film will be opening in Austin and Chicago.
The Houston premiere is a homecoming for director Mark David (Sweet Thing) who plans to attend both Friday and Saturday night screenings of the film. The film was co-composed by both David and his lifelong friend and other Houston native William Tabanou. Their original tracks include such artists as Sen Dog of Cypress Hill, Coolio, MC Eiht of Compton's Most Wanted and Mopreme Shakur (brother of Tupac) of The Outlawz.
Intoxicating stars Method Fest Best Breakthrough Performance Winner Kirk Harris (Hard Luck, My Sweet Killer, Loser), Golden Globe Nominee John Savage (The Deer Hunter, Thin Red Line, Message in a Bottle, HBO's Carnivale), Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, Spun, National Security, The Specialist, ABC's Less Than Perfect), and Danish star Camilla Overbye Roos (Titanic, White Squall).
Intoxicating premiered theatrically on three screeens in Los Angeles in late November. The film has played dates with the AMC, Regal and Loews theatre chains.
In the last eighteen months, the company that Mark David co-owns, Rogue Arts has handled the North American distribution of over twenty films. As well, the company has produced five feature films. Distribution titles include: Academy Award Winner Anders Thomas Jensen's Flickering Lights (writer Mifune, Brothers, King is Alive, Open Hearts) starring Ulrich Thomsen and Iben Hjejle, Giorgio Serafini's The Good War starring Academy Award Nominee Roy Scheider, and retired NYFD Fireman Mike Lennon's 9/11 documentary Brothers On Holy Ground (which recently premiered on Starz! True Stories).
