The foreign box office succumbed to Perfume - The Story of a Murderer, which unseated Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest with an $11.3 million weekend from 1,300 screens. The English-language German thriller, which won't strike America until Dec. 27, has a two-week international tally of $31.8 million.
Perfume topped its home market, Germany, for the second straight week with $6.7 million from 773 screens, down 32 percent for remarkable $20.2 million total. The other German-speaking markets have reported similarly strong business: Austria has $2.8 million and Switzerland has $1.4 million. Additionally, Perfume remained atop Russia for a second straight week with $2.1 million for a $6.1 million total, and, in Italy, it had a solid $1.1 million debut in third place.
Leading all Hollywood productions again, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest logged $7.4 million over the weekend at 3,437 screens in 42 countries. Italy accounted for $4.5 million of that, but the movie plummeted 75 percent, bringing its Italian tally to $20.4 million. The supernatural swashbuckler has grossed $625.3 million overall.
World Trade Center widened by eight markets over the weekend and made $6.2 million for an $8.2 million total. The 9/11 drama was driven by strong starts in France ($2.6 million from 418 screens) and Belgium ($598,524 from 44 screens), and it topped United 93 in all other territories.

In Malaysia, director Michael Mann's cop drama nabbed $132,322 from 35 screens, while, in Singapore, it yielded $281,181 from 25—each debut doubled what Mann's Collateral started at. Miami Vice has become Mann's highest grossing movie in 15 territories, including France, Germany and Russia, and its foreign stash has grown to $85 million.
Over the Hedge had robust openings in Scandinavia, including Norway's $755,066 opening from 91 screens, Sweden's $523,173 from 154 and Finland's $138,840 from 45. The animated comedy has gathered $154.6 million overall with Italy still ahead.

You, Me and Dupree had a decent start in Germany, snatching $1.2 million from 348 screens. The Owen Wilson comedy nearly doubled the debut of Wilson's previous picture, Wedding Crashers. Dupree's overall total stands at $35.5 million.
Early in its run, The Devil Wears Prada struck Mexico with a solid $1.5 million opening. The fashion comedy's foreign tally is $7 million.
